“Amazing…I really loved his playing”
Jeff Beck
“A really good guitar player!”
Gary Moore
When you hear comments such as the above from two of the worlds’ greatest guitar players you just know they have heard something very special. Twenty-two year old Ben Poole is currently being described the most exciting young blues guitarist to come out of the UK for a long, long time.
The past year has been an extremely exciting one for Ben, seeing his name crop up regularly in Europe’s biggest selling guitar magazine Total Guitar who recently named Ben as “the guitarist to watch out for in 2010”.
Ben has also realised a lifelong dream to play with one of his favourite living musicians – US guitarist/singer/songwriter Richie Kotzen, touring with him on Richie’s October 2009 UK tour.
With the release of the five track EP EVERYTHING I WANT, produced by none other than esteemed guitarist Bernie Torme (Ozzy Osbourne, Ian Gillan), Ben Poole will now get his unique virtuoso guitar playing out to a far wider audience and will surely become the name to drop when talking about new, young and gifted blues/rock guitarists.
Of the five tracks on the EP, four are from the pen of Ben Poole, the only cover being a blistering rendition of the Paul Rodgers/Andy Fraser penned Fire And Water. Of the originals, stand out cuts include the stunning opener Everything I Want and the glorious Chase The Girl.
2010 will see Ben and his band that comprise Gary Pearson on bass and on drums Alan Taylor, playing regularly across the UK and playing some of the biggest festivals in Europe. Ben was the only unsigned blues roots artist to ever play at the ‘Download’ festival at Donnington Park in June alongside artists including Aerosmith, AC/DC and Rage Against The Machine. Ben has also recently recorded with Dani Wilde on her highly anticipated second album, working with legendary British blues producer Mike Vernon (Eric Clapton/Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac/John Mayall/Buddy Guy). As well as playing his own headline shows Ben also finds time to act as lead guitarist for the above mentioned Dani Wilde and has travelled all over Europe and beyond supporting such notable performers such as John Mayall and played at major festivals such as the Maryport Blues festival in Cumbria and the Fricktaler Blues Festival in Switzerland.
“A really fresh sound and style”
Paul Jones
“Unbelievable! It's very refreshing to hear someone in today's time who reminds me of the guys who inspired me when I was young. He'll be a household name someday for sure.” Richie Kotzen
