La Fleur Fatale is a psychedelic, power pop & full-on rock band that emerged from the wreckage of one of Sweden’s most promising bands, Planet Superfly. That dysfunctional and psyched-out arrangement came to an end in 2006, but resulted in a new, glorious, musical dawning with a spectacular sunrise largely due to the arrival of new manager, Papa Bear. His spiritual, inspired and highly persuasive methods led the musicians to put aside their differences and embark on a psychedelic journey of sound after years of apathy and opiate-induced confrontations.
La Fleur Fatale is both behind and ahead of its time, riding high on the upcoming wave of the psych revival. Their 60s-inspired groove is embraced by the younger generation of today and those who actually saw that original era bloom. “Night Generation” is an album that has a feel of the 60s, but looks toward the future. The first single from the album, “Children of Neon Lights”, was heard all over Swedish TV when it was used in the trailer for the launch of a new national station, TV4 Sport.
Following radio support in the US & Canada (WNYU, UIC FM Chicago, CIUT Toronto, WPKN Bridgeport, KAOS Seattle, Radio Free Phoenix, LUVER San Francisco, Psychedelic Velveeta, WKAI Minneapolis, to name a few), the band was invited to support the Electric Prunes on their US spring tour in 2009. Due to the current economic situation the tour was moved to fall 2010.
The album has been subsequently released in Germany, Holland and got worldwide distribution by Cargo Records. La Fleur Fatale toured the UK in July 2008 last year to promote the release of the album there and enjoyed early rave reviews and airplay on XFM, Radcliffe & Stuart (BBC Radio 2), BBC 6 Music, Express FM and Total Rock Radio. BBC Radio 2 continued to it an airing, with Maconie & Radcliffe shortlisting the single, “Night Generation” for their Single of the Week.
Since that time, the synch success has continued:
*Album track, “Straightway Ride”, is included on a compilation album that one of the country’s leading health care providers gives as a gift to patients and clients. David LaFleur says, “Glad we're helping people to heal.”
*Two tracks from the album are used on the soundtrack of film maker Peter Svensson’s documentary on competitive windsurfing and its biggest star, Marcilio Browne, “Committed Reloaded”.
*“Sunshine Underground” was used in the trailer for the film “Die Hard” on North American television network AMC.
*New fans and friends, The Electric Prunes, included tracks on their Viva Radio show, broadcast in all American Apparel stores.
*American Airlines played “Sunshine Underground” on all its in-flight podcasts reaching over 4 million passengers.
While recording the second album, “Silent Revolution” released October 2009, La Fleur Fatale was asked to write and record a new single for inclusion on influential psych web site Trip Inside This House’s “Summer Solstice 2009” compilation. They obliged, and their song, “Trip Inside” is available exclusively when downloading the album free at http://tripinsidethishouse.blogspot.com.
The new album has gone to receive rave reviews from all over the world and have been getting airplay on over 80 college radio stations in the US. The recent tour in Germany was turned into a 13 min tourmovie available on Vimeo ot the bands MySpace and Sweden's most influential music Magazine, GROOVE, say that La Fleur Fatale is Sweden's best kept music secret.
As the band’s growing following on MySpace (they were recently included in the bestofmyspaceuk.com podcast as voted by listeners) and overwhelmingly positive response from the public and media all over the globe for their debut album, “Night Generation” shows, La Fleur Fatale is blooming beautifully.
