"The most exciting band I’ve heard in years."
Maverick Magazine.
With a name evoking images of frozen landscapes and endless blue skies, Essex/Herts duo The Floe (Sarah Springett and Liz Townsend) produce music that encapsulates that stark beauty. Both distinctive and compelling their songs soar with tales of love, loss, longing and hope.
The Floe's journey, as their name suggests, is one of constant, natural evolution, starting in the early noughties where they honed their craft by touring the UK and Ireland extensively.
Their first album 'No Looking Back' was mixed by the Grammy Award winning Simon Gogerly and released in March 2010 to glowing reviews...
"Stunning album brimming with full-on dynamics and diversity – passion oozes from this record." - Maverick Magazine.
"Marking their arrival on the scene with this impressive debut , the opening track here provides a stirring marker for all that follows. Blessed by Springett’s distinctive vocals [The Floe form] a versatile ensemble whose songs give them every chance of mainstream success." - Rock’N’Reel Magazine.
2010 went on to see The Floe tour the UK as Caffe Nero Artist Of The Month, receive airplay from Radio 2, play twice at the BBC, have a track featured on BBC Three and support Glenn Tilbrook, The Bad Shepherds, Midge Ure and Ultravox during the final dates of their European Tour.
After one of the busiest and most successful years in the band's history Sarah and Liz have now returned to the studio to work on new material and prepare for the follow up to 'No Looking Back'. With new songs and sounds coming thick and fast and exciting collaborations afoot their trajectory continues onwards and upwards.
In a live setting their simple yet cinematic piano-synth led performances are breathtakingly heartfelt and draw upon every experience that has led them to this point.
With so much passion and conviction and with ambitions as vast and unending as the landscapes that their name reflects, The Floe's evolution seems thankfully never ending.
